Getting Laid - Off

Too bad this isn't as good as it sounds. Getting laid is usually nice, and getting off usualy means good things, but getting laid off, now that's never good.

So yeah, I got laid off. And so did 40% of my company. In a way it's a good feeling, liberting, in that what I probably should have done long ago - leave my comfortable job as a technical writer - was forced upon me. I had tried to leave the company three times before, and even had jobs lined up, but never did. Why? Because I was comfortable. It was easy and harder to leave and put myself into a situation where I had to become someone new and not rely upon prepackaged, prefab versions of myself.
